The planning phase assists the project manager to develop an understanding of the overall approach to a project and helps identify resources that he or she will need during the development process.

The project planning phase includes:

Project Phases

The project initiation phase is the critical phase within the project life-cycle. It is also called the project pre-planning phase and about stating the basic characteristics of the project. To successfully initiate a project, the basics steps required must be undertaken to develop a business case, undertake a feasibility study, develop a project charter, project schedule, and identify risks must be performed.

During the development phase, the project manager coordinate schedules, manage resources and assign tasks from the documentation, requirements, and process flows either provided or authored during the development team’s planning phase.

Monitor and Control

The project manager maintains an ongoing audit of each task as they are assigned out to the development or technology teams during the development process. This stage is also called the project audit or control phase and consists of an ongoing project schedule that will be used to accomplish the project requirements set forth during the work breakdown structure.

During this phase, the project manager assign tasks to the quality assurance team to investigate the quality of the product developed during the development process.
